Open Port Checker — FAQ

How do I check if a port is open?+
Enter the public hostname or IP, pick the port and press Test. We attempt a TCP connection from our servers and report open, closed or filtered.
Why is my port open locally but closed here?+
Your firewall, router NAT or ISP is blocking inbound traffic, or the service is bound to 127.0.0.1 only. Bind it to 0.0.0.0 and open the port in the firewall.
Can I scan private IPs like 192.168.x.x?+
No. Private, loopback and reserved ranges are blocked — the tool tests public internet reachability only.
