Ping Test (TCP) — FAQ

Why TCP ping instead of ICMP?+
Many servers and firewalls block ICMP, so classic ping shows false "timeouts". A TCP handshake to port 443 measures what browsers actually experience.
Where are the probes sent from?+
From The PowerHost infrastructure in India, so results show what Indian visitors are likely to see.
What is a good ping for a website?+
Under 50 ms is excellent, 50–100 ms is good, and above 150 ms is noticeable — especially on mobile networks.
