tl;dr ▸ the short version
Server colocation means you own the hardware and rent space, power, cooling and network in a professional datacenter. At The PowerHost, colocation in India costs ₹3,500/month for 1U and ₹6,000/month for 2U, with power, cooling, a 1 Gbps port, IPv4 and basic remote hands included. A quarter rack starts at ₹15,000/month. Your servers sit in our Noida (Delhi NCR) facility, so the data stays in India.

spec sheet ▸ what is included
No separate line items for power, cooling or the port on standard plans. The rack price is the price.
| plan | rack space | network port | ipv4 | power | remote hands | price /mo |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1U Colocation | 1U | 1 Gbps | 1 | Included | Basic | ₹3,500 |
| 2U Colocation | 2U | 1 Gbps | 2 | Included | Basic | ₹6,000 |
| Quarter Rack | 10U+ | Up to 10 Gbps | Blocks available | Redundant feeds | Priority | from ₹15,000 |
| Half Rack | 20U | Up to 10 Gbps | Blocks available | Sized to load | Priority | Quote |
| Full Rack | 42U | Up to 10 Gbps | Blocks available | Sized to load | Priority | Quote |
For context, 2026 Indian colocation pricing guides put typical monthly ranges at roughly ₹3,500 to ₹13,000+ for 1U, ₹15,000 to ₹25,000+ for a quarter rack, ₹25,000 to ₹40,000+ for a half rack and ₹40,000 to ₹90,000+ for a full rack, often with power, IPs and bandwidth billed separately. Our 1U and 2U plans include them.
colocation data center ▸ what surrounds your metal
Your servers get the same facility that runs every PowerHost plan: redundant power, controlled climate and humans on the floor around the clock. Tour the Noida datacenter →
Get a colocation quoteDual utility feeds, UPS banks and diesel generators. Quarter racks and above get redundant A+B feeds, so your PSU is the only single point of failure left.
Hot/cold aisle layout with monitored temperature and humidity envelopes. Your hardware ages on its own schedule, not the weather's.
1 Gbps standard, 10 Gbps on rack plans, with multi-homed upstreams and low-latency routes across major Indian ISPs and IXPs.
Reboots, drive swaps, cable checks and visual inspections by on-site engineers, so you never drive to the datacenter at 3 a.m.
Controlled access, CCTV coverage and logged entry to every aisle. Your hardware is accounted for at all times.
Early smoke detection with clean-agent suppression, designed to stop a fire without drowning the hardware around it.
decide ▸ colo, dedicated or cloud
The difference is who owns the hardware and who carries the risk when it fails.
| colocation | dedicated server | cloud / vps | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who owns the hardware | You | We do, rented to you | We do, shared and virtualised |
| Upfront cost | You buy the server | None | None |
| Monthly cost | Lowest: space, power, port only | Medium: hardware is in the rent | Low to start, grows with usage |
| Hardware choice | Anything rack-mountable: GPUs, appliances, custom builds | From our configurations | Fixed plan sizes |
| Hardware failures | Your parts, our hands swap them | We replace them | Invisible to you |
| Best for | Owned fleets, GPUs, network gear, data you must keep on your own disks | Full bare-metal power without buying servers | Websites, apps and workloads that scale up and down |

Rule of thumb: if you already own servers, or plan to run hardware for three years or more, colocation is usually cheaper than renting a dedicated server. If you don't want to own or refresh hardware, rent a dedicated server instead.
use cases ▸ who it is for
Tally, ERP, file and database servers moved out of an office rack with no UPS runtime, no cooling and one broadband line.
Teams that bought GPU servers and need dense power, cooling and a fast port, without paying cloud GPU rates every month.
Routers, firewalls and caching appliances that need a stable datacenter presence and low-latency Indian routes.
Businesses that want customer data on their own disks, in an Indian facility, with logged physical access.
Off-site backup targets, NAS and object storage, where owning the disks beats renting terabytes.
Providers running their own hypervisors who want a rack in North India for Delhi NCR and pan-India customers.

checklist ▸ before you sign anywhere
Most colocation bills grow from line items nobody asked about upfront. Ask every provider, including us, these six questions.
Ask us all sixMany providers quote rack space alone and bill power per kVA on top. Our 1U and 2U prices include power and cooling for a standard server.
Check port speed (100 Mbps and 1 Gbps are very different), whether usage is metered, and what a 10 Gbps upgrade costs.
Extra IPv4 is a recurring cost. Ask how many are included and what a block costs.
Reboots and drive swaps are often billed per incident. Ask what is free, what is billable and how fast someone responds.
Look for N+1 UPS and generators. On rack plans, ask for dual A+B feeds to your equipment.
Location sets latency to your users and how quickly you can reach your hardware. Insist on a scheduled, logged visit process.
